Local Food, Sustainable Communities, Bighorn Sheep, Ghost Towns, and Survival Skills

At R Bistro in Indianapolis, Regina Mehallick serves local foods she discovers at the local farmers market or during her explorations throughout the state, where she establishes ongoing relationships with farmers. Locally-produced foods are the way to go, saving energy and supporting local communities, as more and more people are finding out around the country.

Meg Storrow and John Kinsella and their team at Storrow Kinsella Associates are hip-deep in turning Indianapolis into a more sustainable megalopolis, connecting residential neighborhoods, business districts, schools, and nightlife via specially-designed car-free trails and paths as well as by public transportation, and by extending the existing urban greenway system far beyond the city, to regional parks and outlying towns. On their rare off days, John and Meg kayak on the urban waterways, which form corridors of nature throughout the city.

John Wehausen's work toward saving the Sierra Bighorn is featured in a new documentary film, Counting Sheep.

Jay Howlett's awesome new CD, "American Ghost Town", is now available at CDBaby.

Cody Lundin's long-awaited new book, "98.6 Degrees: The Art of Keeping Your Ass Alive", is now available on his site or through the publisher, Gibbs Smith. Buy it or else!
