Pictures of Knowledge: Work in Progress The first two years of my project were devoted to developing benchmark models, models which represent an accurate worldview for the simplest and smallest-scale human society whose culture is both necessary and sufficient for a full and sustainable life as part of a natural ecosystem. Now I'm developing models which represent the reality of life in urbanized societies, the incomplete experiences of people in these societies, and the various inaccurate worldviews which people in these societies hold as a result. Through studies like this we can identify our "cultural blind spots" and begin to correct them, and through visualization and consensus, communities may be able to change their behavior, implementing more adaptive and sustainable practices. |
