Rites of Spring In April, brother Jim took me trainspotting in Chicago. In May, I visited the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains of western North Carolina, and climbed Cold Mountain, the book's namesake, in the Shining Rock Wilderness. Then I joined a wonderful group of friends in the desert for the best birthday ever! I've also included a photo album, "A Year in Southwest New Mexico,".
